About this course

Content

  • Calibration of total station;
  • Lan surveying methods (traverse, construction and building measurements);
  • Surveying data processing (orthogonal method, traverse, corrections between terrain and map plans);
  • Theory of accuracy/statistics (least-squares method, weighting/instrument parameters, time-correlation in RTK(GNSS);
  • Software (general use, data import and export, processing, assessment of quality regarding to Norwegian standards);
  • Applications (road sticking, transformation, calibration);
  • Programming.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge:

  • knowledge of standards in land surveying field;
  • know the surveyor's tasks on construction site;
  • know the surveyor's tasks on building site;
  • verify correction of measured distances and directions;
  • verify correction of measured distances and directions between terrain and map plane;
  • verify least-squares method;
  • use statistics to assess the quality of surveying calculations;
  • assess whether data series contains gross or systematic errors and assess whether the quality of measurements satisfies;
  • verify weighting of measured data.

Skills:

  • perform intrument control of total station;
  • establish ground network using total station measurements;
  • use softwares to analyze and interpret surveying data according to standards;
  • master the use of instrument parameters in softwares;
  • planning, calculating and assessing quality.

General competence:

  • verify accurate and precise work on surveying instruments and softwares;
  • understand the importance of documented work performed according to standards.
