About this course

Content

The course focuses on entrepreneurship, innovation and restructuring in the light of economic globalization, regional development and politics. Emphasis is placed on identifying the interplay between economic, social and cultural factors. The course primarly examines the Norwegian context, but also places this in a broader comparative perspectice.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: The students should get knowledge about entrepreneurship, innovation, innovation systems, different knowledge bases, regional Development and restructuring, both in an urban- and rural context.
Skills: The students should be able, both individually and in Groups, to analyze and discuss central research questions related to entrepreneurship and innovation in a regional context. They should also be able to apply theories and concepts to empirical cases, and discuss the findings in a field report.
General competence: The students should be able to develop a critical and analytic economic geographical approach to entrepreneurship, innovation and regional Development. They should also be able to convey relevant subjects related to the understanding of regional economic change.

Teaching methods

16 hours tuition , field course, field course report and presentation.
Teaching will only be given if a sufficient number of students register for the course and if the Department has sufficient teaching resources.
