Geography in Practice - Qualitative Methods

The research process, roles and ethics of the researcher, and data sources in Geography are studied.
The most common methods used in qualitative studies are covered in more detail: Observation, interview and text analysis.

Knowledge: The candidate has basic insight in qualitative research methods, and has a basic understanding of core concepts tied to the qualitative research process.

Skills: The candidate has some experience in using qualitative methods, and can on a basic level critically assess use of qualitative methods.

General competence: The candidate has basic knowledge concerning how to write a short academic text.

Teaching will be arranged for students who take the course as part of geography as subject 2 in the teacher education program.
