About this course
Content
The course is a continuation of FY1003 Electricity and Magnetism I, and focuses on applications of the theoretical foundation established in FY1003. Examples: The Hall effect, semiconductors, magnetic hysteresis, AC circuits, impedance, resonance.
Learning outcomes
The student is expected to: 1. Gain further insight into the electric and magnetic properties of materials. 2. Learn about AC circuits and related key concepts like impedance and resonance by using knowledge about DC circuits from FY1003. 3. Obtain practice in independent and groupwise project work, via literature search, report writing, and oral presentation.
Teaching methods
First half: Lectures, compulsory exercises and laboratory exercises. Second half: Project. Team work. Project report. Presentation. The final grade is based on the project report (50%) and a written exam (50%).
