Sound Design

This master's level course expands the students knowledge pertaining to designing sound for film, television, music, and art.

Knowledge

Upon a successful completion of this course, students will have knowledge of

• usage of sound and sound effects within the various genres of media and artistic expression, and audio formats and standards
• histories and theories of film sound
• narrative and communicative qualities of sound
• sound perception

Skills

Upon a successful completion of this course, students have the ability to

• create narratives through sound
• manipulate and process expressions of sound
• design a multichannel sound track for film and other audiovisual art
• employ theoretical concepts in the discussion and production of sound

Lectures / seminars and practical assignments. The course has compulsory activities in the practical assignments. The students are required to keep updated on messages from the department or teacher on Blackboard. This course is taught in Norwegian only.
