Introduction to Film Production

FVP1010 offers a practical foundation unit in filmmaking. Students are introduced to relevant professional film production roles and practices.

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of this course the student will have knowledge about:

• basic film production terminology
• basic concepts of subject-specific film- and television expressions
• different phases in production of audio visual expressions
• different key roles and positions in production of audio-visual expressions

Skills

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will know how to:

• use technical production equipment, like video cameras, light- and sound systems, as well as editing software
• develop and produce synopsises and film manuscripts
• develop film characters and audiovisual dramaturgy

Lectures, seminars, group sessions and production works.

Students are required to attend and participate in a minimum 80% of the course classes. The requirement of 80% attendance and active participation is absolute. The legitimate absence of 20% covers absence due to illness or other causes. Absence exceeding the 20% limit is not accepted, even if it's caused by circumstances students are not responsible for. In specific cases, like serious or long-term illness, special needs accommodation can be arranged by application to the department.

It is the students responsibility to keep themselves up to date on information from the department or lecturers on Canvas.

The course is taught in Norwegian only.
