Fiction Film Production

FVP1001 is a basic level practical production course, where the student acquires experience with various processes and concepts that constitutes the production of audiovisual works. Further, the student explores the interaction between different cinematic techniques and aesthetics.

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of the course the student has knowledge of:

• aesthetic particularities of the audiovisual film story
• the interplay between different filmic/cinematic techniques
• practical- and theoretical terminology of the film medium
• the practical and logistical pipeline of film production, from idea to completed film

Skills

Upon successful completion of the course the student knows how to:

• make competent use of industry standard technical production equipment and tools
• manage and complete audiovisual productions, from idea to completed film
• develop audiovisual stories
• utilise and reflect upon cinematic techniques and aesthetics

Lectures, seminars, group sessions and assignments.

Course requirements: Compulsory production work. The number of production works that must be submitted will be specified by the course supervisor at the start of the course.

In order to take the final exam of the course, the student must have documented attendance of 80 %. Absence of up to 20 % covers non-attendance due to illness or other, documentable causes. Absence exceeding the 20 % limit is not accepted, even if it's caused by circumstances the student are not responsible for. In special cases, like serious or long-term illness, the student can receive adapted teaching by application to the department.

It is the responsibility of the student to keep up to date on messages from the department or the teacher on Canvas. The course is taught in Norwegian only.
