France in Europe

This course will emphasise the way France's history and culture influence and have been influenced by Europe. The study of France’s political and conceptual contribution to the European identity will be central.
The course deals with important periods in French history after 1600, providing an introduction to major developments and essential problems in French history.

Candidates who have passed this course
- are familiar with the chronology of the major historical periods in France.

- are familiar with the ideas that France has contributed to European integration throughout the centuries.
- can analyse texts in light of their historical context.
- are able to present, both in writing and orally, historical events in French.

Lectures and oral presentations. In connection with the oral presentations, students are expected to give each other feedback.
