French Proficiency

The course involves translation of Norwegian texts into French and vice versa; additionally, the students are expected to write summaries.

The candidate
- has basic knowledge of French grammar
- has acquired a French vocabulary related to everyday topics
- is able to make expedient use of a French dictionary
- has insight into contrastive aspects in order to be able to translate authentic French-language texts into Norwegian
- is able to translate brief authentic Norwegian-language texts into French
- is able to write a summary in French in accordance with the rules of the genre
