Advanced Course in French Literature

The student will read a selection of French literary texts from a specific period and/or within a specific thematic area. The students will gain competence in analyzing texts and in connecting reading to problematics related to literary theory. By working with the text, the student will gain competence in critical reflection and in the understanding of cultural history.

Knowledge

Candidates who have passed this course:

- are familiar with relevant research problems in literary theory

Skills

Candidates who have passed this course:

- are able to analyse literary texts from a specific period and/or with specific topics

- are sufficiently proficient in French to be able to present literary topics both in writing and orally

General competence

Candidates who have passed this course:

- possess good analytical skills, abilities for critical reflection, and understanding of cultural history

Lectures and group sessions with discussion, taught in French.

75% mandatory attendance (in lectures and seminars)

The absence limit is intended to cover normal sick leave and similar situations. Therefore, you will not be granted valid absence from teaching based on a medical certificate, even if the absence is due to circumstances beyond your control.

In special cases, agreements for exemption can be made with the course coordinator, preferably at the start of the semester.

Approved obligatory assignments are valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester). All obligatory assignments must be completed in the same semester.
