Built Form and Urban Design

The course provides an introduction to urban and architectural history and theory, site analysis, the perspective of sustainability in architecture and urban design, aesthetics and creative methods, as well as training in urban design.

Knowledge: The candidate has knowledge on various building forms, the history of urban settlements. Additionally, the candidate is familiar with methods for site analysis and urban development from a sustainability perspective.

Skills: The candidate is capable of working in interdisciplinary teams to develop site analyses, strategies, and recommendations for urban development, with a particular focus on the development of central areas and housing. The candidate can apply qualitative strategies and create visual materials, such as graphics and presentations, to effectively communicate progress and outcomes from planning processes.

The course is based on semester (term) assignments conducted as group work. In addition, there will be some exercises both as group work and individual work. Lectures and exercises are mostly linked to the semester (term) assignments.
