Learning outcomes
With a passed exam / assessment in the subject, the candidate must have the following overall learning outcome defined in the form of knowledge, skills and general competence:
Knowledge
- The candidate has knowledge of physical topics that are fundamental to technological subjects.
- The candidate knows the subject's central methods and can define and explain the most important concepts from mechanics, thermophysics, electricity theory, atomic physics and radiation physics.
- The candidate has knowledge of the requirements for the experiment.
Skills
- The candidate can make calculations on kinematic, dynamic and static issues in one and two dimensions.
- The candidate can make calculations on work, power, oscillations, fluid statics, thermophysical and radiational physical problems, simple electrical circuits and conservation of mechanical energy and momentum.
- The candidate can calculate sizes and units in the SI system, and master conversion between units. The candidate can identify variables that occur in idealized models with physical quantities in reality. The candidate can conduct experiments in a qualified and safe way, make measurements, interpret results and write a report.
- The candidate is familiar with simple applications of numerical solution techniques.
General competence
- The candidate can explain principles of scientific thinking
- The candidate can communicate with others about scientific issues by using physical concepts and sizes
- The candidate understands the connection between physics and technological applications
- The candidate understands the physics subject's ambitions to create quantitative models of natural phenomena
Teaching methods
Pedagogical methods:
Classroom teaching, demonstrations, laboratory exercises.
Mandatory work requirements: Two delivered individual samples per. school year and some minor individual work requirements announced in Canvas. At least 80% attendance per. term. In addition, six submission work based on experiments performed by the students. These can be delivered individually or in groups and must be approved by the specified deadline in order to take the exam.
