Fiction

FILM2002 is an undergraduate course in film studies that further develops the student's understanding and application of film theory and film analysis. The course is located at the end of the bachelor program and is also preparatory for students who will proceed to the master's program.

Knowledge
Upon successful completion of the course the student will have:
- deeper understanding of the fiction film's techniques and modes of expression.
- knowledge of various types of fictional forms and genres.
- knowledge of selected positions in film theory.
- knowledge of selected approaches to film analysis.
- insight into the possibilities of pursuing a master's degree in film studies.

Skills
Upon successful completion of the course the student will know how to:
- apply different film-analytical methods.
- conduct advanced, independent film analyses.
- present film studies-related issues to others.
- reflect on film-theoretical arguments.
- reflect on the consequences of approaches and theory choices.

Lectures, screenings and seminars, including supervised training in film analysis. Teaching is usually conducted in Norwegian, but may take place in English.

Students are required to stay updated on information from the department or course director via Blackboard.
