Nordic Cinema and Television

FILM1104 is a base level course that deals with cinema and television in the Nordic countries. The course is taught in English, and the student gains insight into trends and developments in contemporary Nordic film and television culture.

After completing the course, the student has knowledge of:

• contemporary cinema and television in the Nordic countries, with attention to cultural, artistic, and commercial contexts.
• popular and critical reception of contemporary Nordic cinema and television, both within the region and beyond.

Skills

After completing the course, the student can:

• identify and discuss important trends and developments in contemporary Nordic films and television series.
• relate their acquired knowledge to questions concerning Nordic culture, society and history.
• develop independent analyses of contemporary Nordic films and television series.

Lectures, screenings, and written assignments. Teaching is conducted in English. Students are required to stay updated on information from the department or course director via Blackboard.
