The Film Medium in the Age of Televison

The course replaces the introductory course EXFAC0002 Art, Media and Communication for students who are taking their second specialization (major) within Film and Media Studies.

Film and other audio-visual media are central elements. The course focuses on the new situation arising in the 1950s, when film is challenged by television, and the course looks at the development running up to the present time.

The course is intended to provide students with an insight into similarities and differences between audiovisual narrative forms and their influence on each other.

Lectures, screenings and groups.

Required work: A written assignment of about 5 pages must be approved before the student is eligible for final assessment.
