Specialisation Course in Aesthetics I

The specialisation course in aesthetics enables students through seminars/lectures on aesthetics to concentrate on this one subject area of philosophy.

In order to achieve a specialisation/major in philosophy students are required take 30 credits in philosophy at 2000 level.

The lectures/seminars in the autumn semester is an introduction to aesthetics, while the lectures/seminars in the spring term offers a broader specialisation within the area of aesthetics.

Students should acquire in-depth knowledge about a particular problem area or philosopher within the subject area in question.

Teaching on some of the topics listed above will be given every semester. Students are advised to compose their reading list based on the offered teaching.

The assessment is based on a take-home exam written with supervision, which makes up 60% of the final grade, and a four-hour open-book written exam (obligatory readings), which makes up 40% of the final grade.
In order to sit the school exam, students must have handed in the essay.
In case of retakes, students must redo both exams.

The exam questions for the take-home exam are available at 1 p.m. from the Department Office.
The take-home exam must be submitted in two hard copies before 2 p.m. to the Department Office.
Length: 15-20 pages using 12-point Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing.
