Clinical pharmaceutical work in relation to integrated Medicines Management (IMM).

Pharmacotheraputical education related to:
- Medicines to the elderly
- Adverse effects and interactions
- Pain treatment
- Cardiovascular pharmacology
- CNS pharmacology
- Diabetes
- Obstructive pulmonary diseases
- Read, understand and interpret litterature
- Communication

After completing the course, the candidate is able to work as a drug therapy specialist in multidiciplinary teams in primary and seconday healthcare. The students can use the Integrated Medicines Management (IMM) to optimize drug treatment for the patients.

Knowledge:
The candidate
* has advanced knowledge of drug effects and their role in treatment of selected diseases
* has advanced knowledge in selecting drugs to individual patients


Skills:
The candidate
* can discuss pharmacotherapy and drug-related problems with medical doctors and other healthcare professionals
* can conduct drug interview and clinical drug alignment according to the IMM model
* can conduct comprehensive medication assessments according to the IMM model
* formulate pharmacist’s notes to patient records
* present patient cases including drug related problems in a professional manner to medical doctors and other healthcare professionals
* perform quality assurance throughout the process of drug management on all healthcare levels

General competence:
The candidate
* can use the Integrated Medicines Management (IMM) to optimize drug treatment for the patients and understand the role of the clinical pharmacist as a part of a multidisciplinary healthcare team
* can analyze drug related problems in individualized drug therapy

Lectures, seminars, practical activities. Attendance is mandatory for 70% of the lectures preceding the clinical practice.

An Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE)- examination often used in health sciences. It is designed to test clinical skill performance and competence in skills such as communication, clinical judgement, knowledge of procedures and interpretation of results.
