History- Culture- and Ideas

Trains of development within the sciences and the history of ideas according to the program EXFAC0010 "Subjects of History, Culture and Ideas" with special focus on "modern" knowledge in the humanities.

- Historizing man and its cultural expressions
- Different concepts of interpretation, practice and theory of interpretation
- Use and abuse of scientific concepts, objects, results and theories
- Questions and modells within the philosophy of science in accordance with the program EXFAC0010

The course will provide students with an understanding of the general profile and historical development of the area of study (within the Programme) -understanding of use and abuse of research results, theories and data in society- contribute to a comprehensive understanding of the concept of culture and various expressions of culture- focus the discussion about scientific development, use/abuse and interpretation to the students' chosen subject of specialisation within the programme.

Lectures and seminars. In order to sit the exam, students must have one approved written assignment. The essay should be 4-6 pages in 12-point Times New Roman, 1.5 line spacing, equalling approx. 400 words per page (a total of 1600-2400 words). In case of plagiarism, copying text from the obligatory readings or other students' essays, and other forms of cheating, students will not be allowed to sit the exam. Up to two students may cooperate on the essay. Essays should be submitted through the LMS "it's learning"; essays handed in on floppy disks will not be accepted. Four-hour, written final exam.
