About this course
Content
Electric Motor Drives have an increased importance in the society of today. This is an enabling technology needed for utilizing renewables as wind power energy, as well as for environmental friendly transport on land and at sea. Due to reduced cost of power electronic devices, usually AC machines are used. In this course one will focus on multi-phase machines with 3, 6 and 9-phases, respectively. The type of machines are Synchronous-, Permanent Magnet- and Induction Machines. Methods for choice of transformed models are presented. The most commonly used flux models/observers are introduced. Parameter sensitivity and excitation signals are discussed in details. The increased degrees of freedom in inverters for multi-phase machines are presented. Identification, parameter estimation and state estimation is the main focus. Control methods as vector control, Direct Torque Control and Model Predictive Control are introduced.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: After completing the course, the student shall have detailed knowledge about modeling, identification and Control of electrical machines, and in addition knowledge about the state-of-art within research in this field of research. The student shall have obtained the knowledge to develop own models and identification methods Skills: After completing the course, the student shall be able to model the most commonly used electrical machine and identify parameteres for models needed for implementation of sensorless Control of such machines. The student shall be able to implement a sensorless Control for Electrical Machines.
