Content
These topics are included: - Solid-state physics of power semiconductors: Power diodes, power MOSFETs, thyristors, Gate Turn-Off Thyristors, Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistors, SiC and GaN components. - Snubber circuits. - Gate/base drivers. - Cooling aspects of power electronic converters. - Design of high frequency magnetic components. - Design of power circuit layouts. - Reliability.
Learning outcomes
Knowledge: After completing the course, the student shall: - understand the semiconductors physics that is the basis for power electronic components. - know and understand the physical construction of power electronic components, and how the components are utilized to design power electronic converters. - acquire adequate knowledge on designing optimal and reliable power electronic converters Skills: After completing the course, the student shall be able to design and construct optimal and reliable power electronic converters.
