Oral Skills in the Classroom

This is a didactically oriented course in which the following topics are addressed: language development with a particular focus on oral skills, overall language skills, and strategies for language learning in the English-speaking classroom. One or more obligatory assignments may include discussion with colleagues.

• knowledge of how to use some digital sources and tools when teaching in the classroom
• knowledge of how to facilitate pupils' language learning through the use of learning strategies

The candidate can

• plan, execute and reflect on his or her own plans for teaching

General competence

The candidate can

• apply various teaching methods when guiding and assessing pupils in their development of oral competence

The course is offered online with a duration of approximately 11 weeks, and consists of lectures, each within a given topic. The respective topics will be treated through a written lesson with a short video introduction, relevant readings, and exercises. Students will maintain contact the teacher and peers through a forum and open course blog. Digital tools will be applied in regard to oral presentations and online meetings.

Compulsory Assignments

Obligatory coursework will vary in terms of scope, form, content, and purpose. Furthermore, the focus will be on written and oral work. Additionally, some of the work may be collaborative. The student is also required to write academic texts. The activities will be evaluated as approved/not approved and will not be part of the final assessment. However, all obligatory course work must be approved in order for the student to be eligible for the exam.
