Language Learning

This is a didactically oriented course in which the following topics are addressed: language development with a focus on oral skills, overall language skills, and strategies for language learning in the English-speaking classroom. Obligatory assignments may include personal reflection, group discussions, development of didactical resources and essay writing.

• knowledge of how to develop language competence with special focus on oral skills

• express themselves well in English in different situations, and be a good role model for pupils

• find tools to maintain and develop own language competence

The course is offered online with a duration of approximately 11 weeks, and consists of written and short video lectures, each within a given topic. The respective topics will be explored through relevant readings and exercises. Teaching materials are published each week on Canvas, and students will maintain contact with the teacher and peers through a forum and course blog. Digital tools will be used for oral presentations and online meetings.

Compulsory Assignments

Obligatory coursework will vary in terms of scope, form, content, and purpose. The focus will be on written and oral work, both individually and in groups. Students will be required to write academic texts. The activities will be evaluated as approved/not approved, and are not be part of the final assessment. All obligatory course work must be approved in order for the student to be eligible for the exam.
