Interdisciplinary Course

Language of instruction is English.

This course explores themes in the borderland between linguistics, literature, and/or cultural studies. The focus will vary from semester to semester. A more detailed description of the academic content will be available in the reading list at the beginning of the semester.

• are able to demonstrate a critical understanding of a given interdisciplinary subject or cross-disciplinary approach;
• demonstrate an understanding of the subject’s/approach’s interdisciplinary nature;
• are able to craft an analytical text within the interdisciplinary subject or regarding the cross-disciplinary topic;
• can express themselves via written English which is appropriate to the genre and topic, utilizing and demonstrating understanding of the appropriate genre-related vocabulary.

General Competence

Candidates who passed this course

• recognize the importance of critical reflection on the relationships between the disciplinary topics;
• can critically evaluate the credibility and relevance of different sources of knowledge;
• develop stronger cross-cultural competency skills.

A combination of lectures, seminars, group activity, and/or supervision. Students are required to use the course learning platform regularly.

Students should expect that this 7.5 credit course equates with approximately 10 hours of work per week, including teaching time.

Compulsory assignments

1-3 written and/or oral assignments, equivalent to 2000-2500 words in total. Specific tasks will be defined at the start of the semester.

Approved obligatory assignment is valid for 2 semesters (the semester in which the approval is given, plus the following semester).
