Master Thesis in Social Science Education

The master thesis is an independent research project in a field chosen by the student. The extent of the thesis is 80-100 A4 pages (see the special guidelines for the master thesis). The purpose of the master thesis is for the students to study a subject in depth and develop practice in methodical and systematic work on an issue within the didactics of the social sciences. The work has to be independent and research based. Supervision and tutorials will ensure technical, methodical and text-critical feedback for the student during the course of the assignment and are a compulsory part of the study. The work on the thesis will equate 1.5 semester’s full time study commitment.

The student- can work methodically and systematically on a problem in social science didactics - can plan and carry out an independent research project in line with scientific principles and research ethics - can discuss and communicate knowledge of the student’s own field of research with both specialists and others

Assignment seminars, individual work, supervision. The master thesis has a study admission requirement which means that the course is reserved for students already admitted to the master in social science didactics. All students have to enter into a contract on the implementation and execution of the assignment. This agreement confirms that the subject of study is approved and that both parties understand and accept the existing guidelines for carrying out the assignment.
