The student
- has knowledge of what is described as the “nature of science” and can use this in his/her own teaching
- can identify the “nature of science” in present-day communication of the natural sciences, and can participate in a discussion of why and how the topic is a part of Norwegian natural science teaching
- has an understanding of the history of science with emphasis on natural science
- has knowledge of, and can discuss, the relationship between science and the natural science subject
- has knowledge of, and can discuss, various justifications for the natural science as a school subject
- has knowledge of the development of the natural science in Norwegian schools, as seen in the context of school development, societal development, and the natural science as a subject in teacher training
- has knowledge about and is able to discuss values, attitudes, and responsibilities with relevance to the natural science
