Advanced development methods for information systems, research into evaluating such methods. Modelling, problem analysis, requirements specification. Combination of formal and informal modelling techniques. Integration of functional and non-functional requirements.

Knowledge: Insight into essential research problems in methods for development, acquisition and evaluation of information systems, with focus on advanced modern modelling techniques.

Skills: Ability to discuss and compare modelling techniques and evaluate their applicability in various contexts, for instance related to the problem domain of the student's own thesis. Ability to explain modelling techniques for other people.

Competence: Ability to evaluate information systems modelling in a broader context and reflect over ethical challenges in projects with model-based development of information systems.

Guided self-study combined with seminars and compulsory exercises. The exercises include oral presentations by the students, plus a term paper. The grade in the course is based on an assessment that includes the term paper to be presented orally (50%) and a final oral examination (50%).
