Contemporary Dramaturgy

This course provides an in-depth understanding of contemporary dramaturgical perspectives, models, and strategies. Students engage in analyses of their own and/or others’ practices as part of their reflective work. The content of the course may vary from semester to semester and is connected to the research projects of the academic staff.

Knowledge

Upon successful completion of this course, students will have:

• insight into recent tendencies, perspectives, strategies and working methods in dramaturgical practice
• understanding how dramaturgy can be used to develop concepts, analyze works, events and processes
• knowledge of dramaturgical concepts where relationship between art forms and the organizational/infrastructural forms are central

Skills

Upon successful completion of this course, students will know how to:

• make use of contemporary dramaturgical perspectives and approaches in one's own or others' artistic work
• be able to independently and critically apply dramaturgical perspectives and concepts in written and oral communication
• apply dramaturgical concepts in different contexts

Instruction consists of lectures and seminars and course requirements.
