Project Theater for a Young Audience

The course specializes in theatre production for young people, and has both theoretical, methodological, and practical components. Students gain experience in planning and executing a local, group-based theatre project in collaboration with an external institution and/or a reference group. In the course, the students' artistic and teaching artist competence is developed in devised theater for young people.

• how to work with reference groups in theatre production processes
• relevant artistic and teaching artist methods directed towards young people

Skills

Upon successful completion of this course, students will know how to:

• develop and implement a performance concept that communicates with the target group
• collectively create a performance in dialogue with young people in a reference group
• plan and communicate the project to partners
• use production resources and expertise in an efficient and sustainable manner.
• apply dramaturgical competence in the realization of the performance
• reflect orally and in writing on the creative process and product

The teaching is offered as lectures, practical seminars, group supervision and individual supervision. In the planning, exploration and implementation of the projects, the students receive supervision in groups and individually. The groups work on the project is adjusted to the nature of the work, cooperation with external partners, supervisors and access to workshops, rooms and equipment.

Compulsory assignments: DRA2002 is a practical-theoretical course with requirements for attendance and participation in all parts of the course: introduction, production and performance. In order to complete the final assessment in DRA2002, the student must have approved attendance and participation in at least 80% of the teaching. The legitimate absence of 20% covers absence due to illness or other causes. Absence exceeding this 20% limit is not accepted, even if it's caused by circumstances the student can't purposely avoid. In special cases, like serious or long-term illness, the student can be given an individual option by application to the department. In addition, the compulsory practice assignment must be approved. The students are required to keep posted on messages from the department or teacher on Canvas.
