Introduction to Dramaturgy

Introduction to dramaturgy gives students a basic introduction to dramaturgical concepts and traditions in the performing arts and other relevant areas, such as film, music and other related medias. In the course, analytical skills are trained, and dramaturgical concepts and strategies are applied to specific study objects. The course prepares the students for dramaturgic analysis and communication transgressing the boarders of historic separated forms of art

The student will have knowledge of

• key dramaturgical concepts and strategies.
• the concept of dramaturgy related to different artistic, aesthetic and socio- political contexts.
• dramaturgical analysis as both theoretical and practical work.

The student will have to know how to

• apply dramaturgical concepts and strategies in analysis, processing and communication related to specific study objects.
• reflect on and assess the potential for dramaturgical thinking in the student's contemporay surroundings.
• be able to find, evaluate and refer to information and subject matter, and present this in a way that it brings resolvment to an problem.

The teaching consists of lectures, seminars and etudes.
