Dance History

Students will be given theoretical and methodological tools to study historography and historic traces of dance. During the course, the student will engage in:Reading, contemplating and acquiring the common pensum literature of 600 pages. Additionally, the student will choose an individual pensum literature of 600 pagesWorking out an individual topic/research question for an open written assignment.

Knowledge

Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:

• document knowledge of a limited topic of dance history or complex of problems in its context of dance studies
• delimit a formulation of an overall problem, account for their methodological
• take a standing on dance historical syntheses and analyses as well as relevant methodological problems

Skills

Students who complete this course successfully will be able to:

• approach the topic and communicate the content in a clear verbal form
• demonstrate independent competence to treat the topic on a level that reflects an understanding of central scenic or cultural problems in dance studies

Lectures, workshops carrying through series of practical tasks in groups under supervision, supervised writing. Pensum consists of 600 common pages, and 600 pages chosen by each individual student.
