Content

The subject provides a brief introduction to the theory and history of aesthetics, with a basis in dance and a concentrated study of European dance history, including a look at other parts of the world. Teaching methods

Lectures, practical classes, groups.
Assessment: The students are required to submit portfolio assignments to be assessed as a whole at the end of the teaching semester. The portfolio should include an answer to one source history exercise answered through discussion in groups and a subsequent presentation in class. The classroom exercise can be replaced with answers submitted as assignments. Portfolio will also include two sets of exercises: one dance-work analysis and a short reflection about selected aestetic concept as it is expressed in a given dance. The three sets count for the same. Failing the portfolio assignment entails submitting the entire portfolio again.
