Content

-3D modeling of simple structures

-Load analysis on tall buildings

-Load bearing and stabilizing systems for multi-story buildings

-Introduction to cross-laminated timber (CLT)

-Design of CLT elements

-Earthquake, simplified rules

-Structural software for analysis and design

Learning outcomes

The candidate

- has the necessary knowledge to carry out a complete load analysis for a building.

- has the necessary knowledge to explain the principles of the structural and bracing systems in buildings.

- has the necessary knowledge to be able to establish different solutions for structural and bracing systems of different materials.

- has sufficient knowledge of Eurocodes (NS-EN) to be able to apply it to design/check constructions.

- can use digital tools to design/check constructions.

- has sufficient knowledge to prepare work drawings.

- has sufficient insight into the various safety factors to assess structures from an ethical perspective.

Teaching methods

Lectures / Teaching activities / Problem solving.

Scheduled time:

lectures: 60 hours; organized guidance: 60 hours; work with compulsory assignments: 120 hours; other preparation: 50 hours; a total of 290 hours

Compulsory work requirements:

- a project assignment that must be passed, group work or individually;

- and 3 to 4 exercises, all of which except one must be approved.
