Content

​-Theoretical basis for the finite element method (FEM) for linearly elastic bodies.

  • Derivation of stiffness relations for structural elements and systems.
  • Structure of the system stiffness matrix.

- Use of software tools for strength and deformation analysis of structural elements and systems.

Learning outcomes

The candidate

- must be able to explain the theoretical basis for finite element method (FEM) and explain how finite element method can be used in the analysis of constructions.

- can use digital tools to analyze/control structural elements and systems.

Lectures and assignments.

Expected time usage for a 7,5 credit course:

Lectures: 60 hours; organized supervision: 30 hours; work on mandatory hand-ins: 60 hours; own effort: 90 hours; total 240 hours.
