About this course

Content

- Design of beams and slabs (not prestressed) for moment, shear, cracks and deflection. The design includes anchorage of reinforcement.- Design of columns.- Design of foundations for moment, shear and cracks.- Strut and tie models.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge: After having completed the subject the student will- have knowledge of the empirical and theoretical background for the relevant European structural building code, the so-called Eurocode 2.

Skills: After having completed the subject the student will- be able to design concrete slabs, beams and columns, according to Eurocode 2.

General competence: After having completed the subject the student will- know the principles governing the carrying capacity of concrete structures- have acquired the necessary technical language of the subject

Teaching methods

Lectures, assignments, academic supervision

There will be no physical teaching at campus from year 2021 and later. It will be only online resources.
This course is organized for campus based students and for web based students. Some lectures are filmed. It is linked to these films from the learning platform.

Mandatory work requirements:
10-13 compulsory exercises. All of these except two must be approved to get up to the exam.

Guidance is implemented through the learning platform, both synchronously using tools such as Collaborate, and asynchronously using "forum". There will be a plan for this on the learning platform.

There will be a seminar in Gjøvik, for the web based students.

Lectures, etc.: 70 hours
Organized guidance, including the collections: 40-60 hours
Work with compulsory assignments: 80-100 hours
Other exercises and own exam preparation: 50 hours
