- Analysis and manipulation of bacterial genomes;
- Chemical genomics, metagenomics and systems biology of prokaryotes;
- Regulation of gene expression in prokaryotes;
- Bacterial antibiotics: resistance and biosynthesis;
- Synthetic biology applications in bacteria.

Students will, based on provided course material and additional literature search, make presentations on the abovementioned topics. The presentations will be thoroughly discussed during the seminars in order to achieve sufficient understanding of the topics.

Learning outcomes

The student will acquire knowledge about recent advances in prokaryote molecular biology with emphasis on post-genomic research.

Teaching methods

The course will be given in English and the exam will be given in English only.
