Organizational Behavior and Leadership

This course aims to introduce students to the fields of organizational behavior (OB) and leadership, and their essential roles in organizations. People make the place, it is often said. The course will cover a variety of topics related to organizational behavior and leadership, structured around individual and group levels of analysis. Topics will include individual behavior, personality and values, group/team dynamics, leadership styles, emotions, attitudes and stress in the workplace, and other related themes. In all, this course will provide an overview of how leaders and their followers interact in and around today’s complex and agile organizations.

Knowledge

After completing this course, students will be able to:

• Define the concepts of organizational behavior (OB) and leadership
• Explain the importance of OB and leadership in and around organizations
• Recognize the reasons for the behavior of individuals in the workplace
• Understand the required leadership behaviors and skills needed for effective leadership in organizations
