Plant Ecology

The course is given for the first time in Autumn 2002. In addition to the above mentioned courses a prerequisite is knowledge comparable to the courses MNK BI 233 and 234. The course will give an introduction of plant ecological theories and an overview over ecological variables, structure and dynamic in a number of important Nordic ecosystems, and plant distribution patterns. Important environmental variables will be discussed. The course will also touch on vegetation history, climate change and the influence of human on nature.

On completion of the course the students should be familiar with plant ecological theories, and with ecological variables, structures and dynamics in important Nordic ecosystems.
