Artistic Encounter

In the third year the artistic practice is contextualised and leads to public artistic encounter. The students plan, program and carry out the encounter in close collaboration with an internal or external coordinator. Each student presents their bachelor's project (solo or in collaboration with fellow students), which has been developed and realised during the third year in dialogue with supervisors and peers. Structured writing guidance during the Spring semester is part of the bachelor's experience, and will help the student clarify and communicate their artistic practice in relation to context.

Upon completion of the course the student will demonstrate the ability to:

• realise and complete a contemporary artistic exam project.
• write a critical reflection text that contextualises the artistic project or work, reflecting on the development of the artistic practice and the research involved.
• plan and carry out thoroughly an artistic process and project, integrating artistic research to evolve an idea into its final form
• produce and publicly show work that defines and contextualises the work examined.
• is familiar with methods of professional practice post graduation.
• has competencies that form the basis for admission to any MFA study program.
• knows how to oversee transportation and installation of work, how to engage with public relations, promotion and dissemination of artistic forms in an ethical way, and how to manage available budgets with a sustainable, efficient, and creative approach.

Participation in working groups for production of the encounter.

Tutorials with supervisors.

Peer-to-peer and individual supervision with fellow students and academic mentors.

Production of the exam thesis, which is to be submitted in Inspera. Presentation of the completed project within the BFA encounter and formal evaluation in an oral examination with external examiner and supervisors. Public group discussion of the BFA encounter.

Specific conditions

Approved compulsory assignments are valid in the current semester.

Due to lack of Scandinavian speaking teachers, this course will be taught in English.
