Artistic Work and Development

Concentrated work on defining and developing an individual artistic practice, and exercises in communication, both orally, and through documentation, exhibition and other forms of presentation.

To develop consistency and depth in artistic practice and the ability to discuss one’s own practice within terms of a common critical language.
To be able to communicate the main ideas of the project in a common forum
To be able to formalte a text that summarises artistic investigations and describes a planned project development.
To become acquainted with a broader international milieu through exchange programs.

Participation in elective courses/workshops/seminars. This can include continuing/advanced courses in various techniques/media/workshops, as well as thematic courses and projects. This part of the programme will vary from year to year, where the content will be determined by current professors. The minimum requirement is that students register for and complete at least one elective course per semester. Completion of the course will be part of the criteria for semester assessment.

Tutorials with main supervisor and second supervisor, and development of an individual art project to be planned and developed during the semester, as well as a more thorough presentation and critical discussion of the project in a group meeting or a larger group critique and some point during the semester.

A more substantial text is to be delivered to the supervisors before the assessment. The document shall sum up and contextualise studies so far and shall define and set out the criteria and primary theme for work in the final study year and the BFA exam project.

Formal semester assessment in May.

Optional exchange to another institution through the KUNO or Erasmus networks.

NTNU Ex. Phil course, which may be arranged during the 3rd. Or 4th. Semester.
