Project and Entrepreneurship

This course introduces entrepreneurial thinking as a way to expand artistic practice beyond the studio. Starting from students’ own interests, it encourages turning ideas into projects, building collaborative teams, and exploring the roles artists can play in society.

Artistic entrepreneurial ventures can take many forms—from small-scale initiatives to collaborative projects—and involve awareness of the economic and social conditions in which art operates. Students learn to conceptualize, research, negotiate, and plan, developing skills in communication and project design alongside their artistic work.

For those who wish to go further, this direction can be deepened through the BK2410 Artistic Work Placement course, offering real-world experience, also in BK3310 Artistic work and Research Placement in our Master of Fine Art, these themes are explored in greater depth through the Artistic Entrepreneurship track.

On completion of this course, students can:

• Participate in a group project and demonstrate understanding of collaboration and engagement within cultural and professional contexts.
• Contribute to a collective presentation format and communicate ideas effectively.
• Reflect on their own artistic practice—and that of others—in relation to broader societal and institutional frameworks.
• Identify and use new arenas for presenting and integrating artistic projects, including collaborative and project-based formats.

The core of the course is the development and presentation of a project idea created in groups, often in collaboration with external partners in the city or beyond. Practical and theoretical input is provided through lectures, screenings, guest presentations, field trips, group discussions, and readings. Each project concludes with a presentation of the concept development and artistic outcomes. Additional details will be shared at the start of the semester.
