This course further advances students in working in time and space with analogue and digital tools, framed by a critical and contextual study of media culture. Since a growing number of shared experiences and perceptions of the world surrounding us are shaped by the development of media and communication technologies, this course emphasizes on the impact of digital literacy.



Electronic image and audio processing technologies serve as an entry point to develop the student's understanding and appreciation of the historical, aesthetic, conceptual, and technical aspects of media art practices within the context of art and society at large.



This course make students develop methodology, relating to contemporary theory, artworks and artefacts of visual culture, that students should reflect on and articulate the significance of art in relation to media and digital culture. Students acquire a specialised, advanced range of practical production skills and further develop their choice of setting and equipment. While technologies and tools will continue to evolve, students will be trained to adapt and apply a refined understanding of underlying concepts to any type of media and technology, be it for artistic, commercial or personal purposes. Students in the course acquire advanced skills and knowledge to work independently in studios and workshops, engaging in independent projects.

The student have practical and theoretical knowledge in and about electronic media. The student can define and implement interdisciplinary forms, such as sequence, composition, appropriation, transformation, interactivity, performativity and community in electronic media. The students can master electronic media projects individually or collectively, communicating ethical requirements and principles. The student can communicate experiences and and contextualise the role of electronic media in contemporary society and artistic practice.

Students are exposed to analogue and digital video, sound art, the web, interactive media, performative art and related media sensitive practices to explore artistic concepts in varied interdisciplinary forms of contemporary art. Practical experience through excercises and collaborative projects constitute central elements of the course. Readings and presentations address essential theories and support a reflected and critical approach to the relationship of technology and art.
