External practice 2

The course will vary according to which kind of company the student has practice in. Themes that should be included are the company's place in the value chain, innovation focus and sustainability perspectives. There must be a significant degree of variation in the work tasks. Throughout the internship period, the focus is on innovation opportunities.

Knowledge - the students:

• have knowledge of the workplace's activities and place in society
• are able to discuss and assess innovation opportunities within the field of practice
• are able to discuss and assess current health, environment and safety (HSE) aspects

Skills - the students:

• are able to carry out an internship in a company and master the challenges this entails
• can relate theoretical knowledge from the study up to the field of practice
• are able to reflect on the practice in a supplementary written report
• are able to plan and conduct interviews / interviews with relevant professionals at the practice site

Competence - the students:

• have insight into different work areas and into corporate culture in a company adapted to the study
• are able to understand and apply relevant terminology for current field of study
• are able to plan and conduct interviews / interviews with relevant professionals at the practice site

Pedagogical methods: Three weeks of practice in a company that amounts to about 120 hours of a total work load of 200 hours. The internship must be approved by the department before the internship starts. A daily log of work tasks must be kept during practice. A report shall be prepared to present the workplace's place in the value chain. The student will discuss the workplace's innovation focus and potential. The report shall include a discussion of the company's point of view / focus on UN`s sustainability goals. Conduct at least 2 interviews with relevant professionals to obtain information for the practice report.

The company approves the internship period by filling in an evaluation form that is submitted to the professors.

Mandatory attendance 90%. Report of 1200-1500 words.
