Advanced Physiology

MANDATORY BEFORE APPLYING FOR THIS COURSE: Before applying for this course you must contact one of the listed professors to determine if they are running the course in the chosen semester and to arrange the course content and schedule.

The course is a self-study program where the topic will depend on the professor. Once the student and professor have agreed upon a topic, the professor will create a seminar schedule and assign the reading material for the semester.

At the end of the course the students should have achieved detailed knowledge about recent research development within the chosen subject. The learning goals regarding knowledge, skills and general competence are as follows:

With the assigned reading material the student should obtain knowledge about:

• Recent research development within a specific field of physiology.
• Physiological mechanisms within a specific field at an advanced level.

The student should have the skill set to be able to:

• Acquire information about physiology at an advanced level.
• Present physiology at an advanced level.
• Formulate and discuss advanced physiological problems based on acquired knowledge.

The student should have general competence in:

• Communicating and presenting original research within a specific area of physiology.
• Applying acquired knowledge in new areas of physiology.

There will be an oral examination at the end of the semester. The content of the course has to be approved by the department.

It is compulsory to attend all seminars.
