About this course

Content

The laboratory course consists of experiments in Molecular Biology organised in five learning modules and lectures relevant to the experiments. These include frequently used methods like for example production, purification, and detection of recombinant DNA and proteins; quantification of stress-induced metabolites from multicellular organisms or gene expression analysis. The students will learn the basics of experimental design, data analysis, and how to present the results both in the form of a written scientific report and oral presentation.

Learning outcomes

  1. The student should have a working knowledge of methods in Molecular Biology.
  2. The student should be able to use standard laboratory equipment and methods frequently used in Molecular Biology research.
  3. The student should be able to perform simple data analysis (including statistics) and interpret the results generated.
  4. The student should be able to communicate their results in written and oral form.

Teaching methods
