Epidemiology and Statistics

The course will provide a fundamental introduction to epidemiological study design, and methods for measuring and analyzing epidemiological data. Students will learn about different measures of disease and injury occurrence, as well as measures of association between risk factors and disease occurrence. Evaluation of causality, focusing on measurement error and confounding, is a central topic. Different statistical methods suitable for epidemiological data will be taught, especially emphasizing the use of regression analysis.

The student has knowledge of epidemiological research methods and how to study the causes of disease in a population, as well as knowledge about common statistical analysis suitable for such studies.
