About this course

Content

The course provides an introduction to the biomechanics and analysis of human movement. The students will learn how course includes analysis of forces (statics and dynamics), motion (kinematics), energy, and their derived variables. The course emphasis application of biomechanics and movement analysis through exercises and demos of lab-equipment like force plates, 3D motion capture system, and video-vector analysis.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

  • The students has knowledge on the biomechanics of human whole body and joint
  • The students has knowledge on quantitative movement analysis and evaluation

Skills

  • The student can perform analysis of force diagrams for both whole body and joint movements
  • The student can calculate linear and angular velocity and acceleration from linear and angular position in both whole body and joint movements
  • The student can calculate linear and angular velocity and position from linear and angular acceleration in both whole body and joint movements
  • The student can evaluate the outcome of biomechanical analysis pf both whole body and joint movements.
  • The student can perform basic trigonometrical operations in vector composition and decomposition
  • The student can solve equation of motion with one unknown variable

General competence

  • The student are able to apply biomechanics in practical situations
