About this course

Content

The course provides an introduction of the basic physiological processes and regulatory mechanisms involved in metabolism, circulation, respiration, and muscle work and related to physical activity and exercise. In addition to the lectures, assignments and demonstrations (such as measurement and evaluation of physiological responses during physical activity) both individually and in groups, will be used to illustrate the theoretical perspectives.

Learning outcomes

Knowledge

  • The student has knowledge about the basic physiological processes associated with energy transfer, circulation, respiration and muscle activity, and how these processes are regulated and altered by physical activity in the context of physical fitness and health

Skills

  • The student can can describe, explain and apply knowledge about physiological processes in physical activity related to physical fitness and health

General competence

  • The student has insight into physiological processes, and can relate these to physical activity, physical fitness and health
  • The student can reflect on and convey knowledge about physiological processes related to physical activity, physical fitness and health

Teaching methods

The course has lectures throughout the whole semester. Up to 84 hours of lectures/exercises/group work. Exchange students interested in the course must consult the Department for possible admission.
