Bachelor thesis in Child Welfare Work

The theme of the bachelor thesis must be within child protection and child welfare.The bachelor thesis must be written individually.

All students must be offered supervision before the bachelor thesis is submitted for examination.

For the completion of the course, reference is made to the Departments guidelines for Bachelor's thesis which are posted on Canvas.

Knowledge - After accomplished the course the student shall have knowledge about:

• how to formulate and answer a research question, central topics of the course, practical application and various literature sources, relevant databases and guidelines for correct use of sources in own work.

Skills - After accomplished the topic the student can:

• formulate, explore and answer a research question related to the child welfare social workers target group and profession, and convey this knowledge both orally and in writing
• plan, carry out and complete a thesis in accordance with scientific criteria on the bachelor level
• show critical and analytical approach, and be able to use contemporary scientific literature and other relevant literature, plan and perform search for literature systematically.

General competence - After accomplished the course the student can:

• critically assess knowledge to shed light on different theoretical perspectives relevant to a research question - in writing central theories and research questions
• reflect upon the practice of child welfare social work and ethical demands by using relevant theory
• use theory in a critical and reflective way to shed light on relevant child welfare problems.
