Bachelor’s thesis - Economics and Business Administration

Preferably, students should choose projects from a portfolio presented by local businesses and academic staff. If project ideas from regional companies require cooperation on the business location, campus students or part-time students living in the region will have priority. Additionally, students may present own project ideas in cooperation with external partners for acceptance. The projects must have the course portfolio from the student's study program as a starting point.

The Bachelor Dissertation completes the student's programme of studies and integrates important components from the course portfolio. At the end of the course period, the student has:

Knowledge

• about theory on a chosen area from the course portfolio - about scientific methods - about the state of the art in their chosen field.

Skills

• Develop and plan how to carry out the work related to a significant research & development-problem
• Analytically reflect on own empirical data, consider possible solutions and bring forward a chosen solution to the problem.
• Identify and evaluate relevant literature that is needed to solve the case
• Ability to carry out, document and communicate the results from the project work according to an academic standard

General competence:

• Have insight into ethical challenges that are relevant for the chosen problem
• Have awareness about how the research problem and project work may have an effect in a broader perspective.

There are no ordinary lectures in this course. Still, there will be a few short seminars to share general information that is relevant for the whole group.

Students will cooperate in groups, mainly 3 participants- but 2 can be accepted. Each group are offered up to 10 hours of tutoring during the project periode, and in addition feedback on one draft. Students at the part-time program are encouraged to work in groups of 2 or 3 participants, but individual work can be accepted according to student's application.

Additionally: Oral presentation is a part of the assessment in the course. Campus students have to be present during all the oral presentations as a compulsory work. Part-time students have to be present the whole day their own oral presentation is scheduled (a minimum) as part of their compulsory work.

All compulsory works have to be passed.
