About this course

Content

The course provides and introduction to theoretical ways of understanding language communication. It also gives practice in describing and analysing different contexts of language communication, as well knowledge of how communication skills are developed.

Learning outcomes

The students should develop a profound understanding of (language) usage as a social activity, as well as develop proficiency in analysing and understanding both converstation and text as interaction in context.

Teaching methods

Lectures and exercises. Compulsory assignments must be submitted and approved before the student is permitted to take the written examination. The scope of each submitted material should be 5-10 pages long (A4 pages, 1,5 spacing). In some particular cases the department can consent to a written home examination, following a substantiated application to the department.
